@DoKo @FreieSoftwareOG Well, OpenOffice's last big update was in 2014, and it's had repeated problems fixing security holes on time: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apache_OpenOffice#Security – But LibreOffice is the properly maintained and actively developed successor project

@DoKo @FreieSoftwareOG @libreoffice python using libreoffice has been possible for a long time (even back when it was still openoffice, and possibly even in the staroffice era), using uno.
the related trauma may also be the reason why I no longer keep libreoffice installed on my computers¹, but that's another matter :D

@valhalla @libreoffice @FreieSoftwareOG basically this is possible with nearly any software. I did such things a lot in the last years and it was only a question of how nice and structured the software is that should be controlled. And yes there had been also some very ugly ways that were needed. So providing software with an easy and structured way to control is a much better gift from developers then fancy GUI and in application scripting engines
