diese ackerhummel war so emsig, fast unmöglich da ein gutes bild zu bekommen. ich hab so an die 20 geschossen, auf der hälfte war sie schon wieder nicht drauf, nur die 3 sind was geworden, und auch die nur fast :3

eine hummel mit bernstein-orangem pelz auf dem vorderen rücken kommt von unten rechts angeflogen zu den rosa lippenblüten einer purpurroten taubnessel. die hummel ist etwas unscharf, ob wegen der bewegung oder weil der autofokus auf das gezackte blatt der taubnessel in der oberen bildmitte scharfgestellt hat bleibt unklar. wohl beides.
jetzt hat die hummel ihren kopf bis zum anschlag in eine der blüten gesteckt. es sieht aus als trüge sie ein rosa kopftuch. ihre transparenten geäderten flügel hat sie auf dem rücken zusammengelegt
diesmal sehen wir die hummel, die immer noch mit dem kopf tief in der blüte steckt von der seite. sie hat außer dem orangen pelz zwischen den flügelansätzen an anderen stellen der an sich schwarzen körperteile streifen blassgelber haare.

This might be a record for me: 16 mason bee cocoons in a single nesting tube. The ones are on the left are larger and likely all females. The smaller ones on the right are males, who emerge first and then wait for females to come out. It's really cool how hymenopterans can control the sex of eggs they lay (males are from unfertilized eggs). 🐛💙 Biologist Auke-Florian Hiemstra made a surprising finding while examining museum specimens: caddisfly larvae from the early #1970s were already incorporating microplastics into their protective casings.

These #underwater #insects normally build tubes from pebbles, sand, and plant matter. Finding plastic in 50-year-old specimens from non-urban streams shows how long these pollutants have affected even relatively pristine ecosystems.
