1 Wow! a discussion about decor colours with @czarbucks @SunnJax @intrepidhero and others led me to think about my old shop (imports and later hairdressing) in #Edmonton, #Alberta #Canada in the mid #90s
Anyway, here are a few views of the shop, colour scheme based on my favourite Madras cotton shirt. Lots more in alt.

Large space of an old commercial building from the early 1900s. It holds a store selling Mexican arts /crafts-hanging on walls, displayed on rustic wood benches made by my grandfather, a vintage wooden drop leaf table with paint stripped to whitish finish, with mis-matched wooden farm chairs painted white. There is also local art (my paintings, some willow furniture, a couple of standing candelabras etc)- later I added a small hairdressing area. Floor and ceiling are painted terracotta colour except for a section of old light hardwood near the entrance, The space is about 30 feet long 2/3 as wide? On each side is a raised platform around 1 ft /30cm high, painted like the rest of the floor. These were display areas in the original store. The back wall is dark violet, and rectangular pillars go from back to front, starting with a true red and getting lighter toward the front so the foremost one is pale pink. Apart from that first one, the columns have old barn boards strapped to them with ivy growing upwards.
We see the wall to the right as you enter, it begins as dark turquoise at the back, lightening toward the front to accentuate light coming from large display windows on each side out of sight. At the back this wall ends in a staircase to nowhere, same colour, with several of my colourful/dark paintings based on religious paintings by El Greco, Titian, etc.. At the rear left is an altar on a rustic bench/shelving unit with Mexican Day of the Dead and Carnival items.

Same space, but looking to the left. This long wall starts at the rear with a deep golden yellow, nearly orange, and lightens toward the front accentuating the light that comes from the large windows (out of view). The platform along this wall is again lined with wooden benches displaying Mexican crafts with Mexican shawls hung from the wall and an old rustic barn door leaning against the wall. Wooden screens display more textiles as well as denim jackets and cushions sewn by my mother, with paintings of mine: on one jacket of a person's face, mom's animal paintings on the cushions. This wall ends with what was the office of the original business, a small enclosed space with 3 angled walls, windows around the middle. This is painted the same true red of the rear pillars, and the walls are hung with Mexican ceramic crucifixes.

Somehow, I always end up posting my throwbacks on every day except Thursday, and here we are yet again lol. In my early crochet days (circa 6+ years ago) one of my hyperfixations was magic blankets and other "magic" items. Double stranding alternating colors? Heck yeah, absolutely my jam lol!

I got the idea from Kim's Magic Blankets on FB who, in turn, got it from the Zooty Owl blog (only, Kim took it way farther). This is a great idea for when you have leftover scrap yarn, fugly yarn, etc and you can also just make color changing yarn cakes as a fun project. The sky is the limit!

I've used this method to create everything from blankets to mats for my dogs to market bags to scarves, cowls, and beanies. The only difference is that I prefer HDC over DC. I definitely recommend trying it if you haven't already

It's quite funny that there was a discussion on the largest forum in Norway (VGdebatt) in the early 2000s about whether Runhild Gammelsæter was a real Norwegian person. The reason was that "Runhild" was perceived as too strange a name. I never thought so, though.

Now, of course, we know better, and the song "Norge" has even become the national anthem of Norway (I wish).
