anlomedad<p>Y'all know how countries use creative accounting when reporting greenhouse gases to UNFCCC? <br>Especially their natural carbon sinks are overestimated regarding CO2. <br>I once checked Canada and Russia regarding their reporting of CO2 in sinks vs the steep increase in recent years of forest and peat fires. The reporting does not reflect this at all. </p><p>But enough of that outrage. <br>Here's a brand new reality check on methane emissions as reported to UNFCCC versus scientific analysis<br>"Comparison of observation- and inventory-based methane emissions for eight large global emitters" , <a href="https://climatejustice.social/tags/Petrescu" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Petrescu</span></a>, <a href="https://climatejustice.social/tags/GlenPeters" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GlenPeters</span></a> et al 2024<br><a href="https://essd.copernicus.org/articles/16/4325/2024/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">essd.copernicus.org/articles/1</span><span class="invisible">6/4325/2024/</span></a></p><p>It shows how the comparison of scientific analysis versus reporting by the EU is quite congruent! Commendable and surprising. <br>While all others write fantasy novels in their reporting. </p><p>Very happy that we have these reality checks by scientists ❤️ </p><p><a href="https://climatejustice.social/tags/methane" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>methane</span></a> <a href="https://climatejustice.social/tags/CH4" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CH4</span></a> <a href="https://climatejustice.social/tags/UNFCCC" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>UNFCCC</span></a></p>

Also related: AMOC stuttered bigly around 1610 with a drop of 1.4.👀<br>Unlike the populations in other world regions, the Americans hadn't known the plough so had to fell new trees all the time to keep nutrition stable. </p><p>In the 20th century, WW2 killed 80mio. Their land use for cooking and heating with wood ended abruptly. And atmospheric growth in CO2 dropped to 0, despite growing fossil fuel emissions. And AMOC weakened by 0.7! In this thread, he takes down the newest <a href="https://mst.mineown.de/tags/IEA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>IEA</span></a> report . Finally! The attitude to the delayer machine that IEA de facto is, was by far too apologetic and IEA is still referenced by far too many as reliable source for anything wrt <a href="https://mst.mineown.de/tags/climate" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>climate</span></a> and <a href="https://mst.mineown.de/tags/ClimatePolicy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ClimatePolicy</span></a> </p><p>I'll copy the URL to the individual tweets into ALT text so you can open them if you like.</p>
