Watching #ThePotatoLab while my partner takes a nap and trying to not wake him with laughter may end up resulting in a pulled muscle or 2. #KDrama
I am watching #EyeLoveYou on my own, and also #UnlockMyBoss with my partner. And it just connected with me that the male lead in both these is played by #ChaeJongHyeop . I have also seen him in #Sisyphus according to IMDB. I am enjoying his acting, I will have to keep an eye out for him in the future. #kdrama #jdrama
@inawhilecrocodile Oh another #kdrama fan! The community here is quite vibrant.
Right now I am watching the hilarious "The Potato Lab" and the very intriguing "The Art Of Negotiation".
Reply 1988 is one of my favorites too and I watched it two times already. Another one that I regularly rewatch is Healer. Among my all time faves: Mr Plankton, Youth Of May, Flower Of Evil, Happiness, Misaeng: Incomplete Life, W 2 Worlds, Vagabond, ...
@youronlyone I believe this is a general trend not linked exclusively to #drama discussions.
Exchanges are increasingly polarised by personal sensitivity to certain topics.
It's more important today to belong to a faction rather than expressing a nuanced POV.
It may have something to do with the communities being now online. People don't meet as often as they used to do at the public library book club.
Social approval comes easier through a popular opinion compared to an insightful one.
It's starting to get tiring discussing shows in a certain online community *cough*MDL*cough* because more often than not, the people who join the discussions are emotionally charged.
I mean, remember book club meetings? We sat together to discuss the current book of the month. How did we do these discussions? We put ourselves in the shoes of the characters—what ticks them, why they do this and that, how do they think, and so on. Which in turn helped us unlock or understand the mind of the author. We don't let our own standards and emotions in. We don't look at any of it from an observer's standpoint.
Where are the people who were capable of deep and meaningful discussions in *cough*MyDramaList*cough* went to?
Needed something light to recover from Adolescence, so I started #ThePotatoLab #Kdrama Wasn’t sold on the first episode, but by the end of episode 4, spouse and I are both hooked. It’s very funny, the leads are great, and I love me a village full of energetic old people in mismatched clothes.
@ronsboy67 I love Kim Ji-Eun . I watched some K-dramas only because she starred in them. However I can see that she's not as pretty as other Korean actresses.
I assume the SFL you're bewitched by is Kim Min-Jung's character, isn't it?
She nailed the role, though I believe she can only play villains or seem-to-be villains because of the composure in her facial expressions.
A big problem with the pivotal plot device in #KDrama #CheckInHanyang is that the box whose super-special spit keys everyone's trying to find IS MADE OF WOOD. Why has no one thought of the xkcd solution? Or did they not have have axes in Joseon?

Into ep 11 of #KDrama #CheckInHanyang , my SLS is in full swing. SLS normally applies when one prefers the designated 2nd lead and wishes they were the 'winner' in the romance race. In THIS Drama though, my SLS is all about the fact that I'm deeply smitten with the 2FL because the character and the actorare totally outshining the meh 1FL . I've seen Kim Ji-Eun in several Dramas, but she and her character are not moving me. I don't actually CARE about the character, and the actor's not helping
Currently airing "The Potato Lab" is quite funny.
"Crazy Love" is pretty funny - especially at the beginning.
"Gauss Electronics" is very funny, but workplace.
"From Now On, Showtime!" is funny with found family.
@IkkleGemzUniverse Which ones have you watched? And if you have specific genre that you enjoy? #kdrama
What KDrama should I watch next? I feel overwhelmed by the amount to choose from #KDrama
@s1m0n4 @EllenInEdmonton I would give my mister another try, it grows on you with each episode. The response to the bee is just used as a metafor and not representative for the series. I am normally sensitive about the role and representarion of women (eg. Bechdel test, which is difficult in #kdrama) but I would say this one is ok. the female writer jokes about this being a film about the life of an adjussi (what is more boring than that?) but that that film also needs a woman via a dream
@EllenInEdmonton It's male-dominated but the few ladies in the cast get a lot of screen time and are definitely key characters.
I am not against realistically portraying a male-dominated world. It was like that in #Misaeng too and I loved that #kdrama
On the other hand I'm totally turned off by those k-dramas that in the first 20-30 minutes do not include any interesting dialogue with a female character. That's why I dropped #MyMister for instance.
@s1m0n4
Isn't this a fabulous show? I thought you might drop it because it's very male-dominated but each of the characters in the team has their own role to play.
I really need to learn how to play Go! It's not part of this show but I feel like it is.
#kdrama
#TheArtOfNegotiation
#kdrama #TheArtOfNegotiation #협상의기술
I can't wait for the episodes to drop!
It's really well done, I'm hooked by the mental and underground games the characters play.
#KimDaeMyung plays a really cool secondary character: an ex-prosecutor reconverted to lawyer with inspiring dialogues.
