Characteristics
The Golden-collared Hoverfly has a yellow body with black stripes and spots.

The Golden-collared Hoverfly reaches a length of about 10-12 mm.

Lifestyle
The Golden-collared Hoverfly feeds on nectar and can be found on flowers. The larvae of the Golden-collared Hoverfly feed on aphids and other small insects.
The species can be found in various habitats, including gardens, forests, and meadows.

Distribution
The Golden-collared Hoverfly is widespread in Europe and can be found in many countries.
The species is also common in some parts of Asia.

In front of me is a path made of light-coloured wooden planks. It leads straight ahead, after a few metres it goes up a little, because it leads over a dune. To the left and right of the path is yellow, dry, ‘long-haired’ grass. At the highest point of the path is a platform. A person in a thick, black jacket is standing there, opposite them a person in a red jacket and yellow cap is sitting on a bench. It is a very sunny day, but also very cold. Behind the dune is the sea, but there's no photo of that today ;)

This is a photo of yesterday's sunset. It was indescribable, but I'll try anyway. In the lower part of the picture you can see the roof of a house, with tall trees next to it. Everything is black. And then there's lots and lots of sky. Directly above the roof of the house it is yellow, to the left and right of it it turns orange. Above it is a purple sky with pink stripes. The crescent of the half moon can also be seen very small.

The same motif, but now the sky directly above the house is glowing red, then a little lighter and then it turns dark blue with pink cloud stripes. Beautiful.

Über schwarzen Bäumen und Häusern versinkt die Sonne in orangenem Licht, darüber lila Licht und der helle Halbmond. Selbst meine schietige Handykamera kann dieses Spektakel nicht ruinieren. ~~~ Above black trees and houses, the sun sets in orange light, above it purple light and the bright crescent moon.
