It wasn't quite the butt crack of dawn, but it was early and cold, as Summer and I set out for our walk.
We are determined to get to the trail while the owl is still hunting, the geese are lifting off the fields, and the deer are just starting to stir. This means leaving before hot drinks or breakfast can be consumed.
The tide was out as we watched geese fighting with each other to determine who would be the dominant gander. They do make some noise and Summer was fascinated.
Today, if all goes well, we will pick up any garbage people dumped on our road, and trim the grass along the way. In between, we will bake pies and assemble cheese enchiladas for the grandkids.
Typical Sunday.
Good morning, Mastodon.

While we waited for Summer's groomer to arrive we weeded the very overgrown strawberry patch.
Summer did her part by fetching my knee pad and dragging the weeds off to make a green waste pile..
The wind was fierce and Summer leans in. Her ears are funny bouncing up and down even when she is sitting still.
We managed to get the strawberries cleaned up and will add a few replacement plants after lunch.
We were sad to find out that Jonah, her groomer, is graduating from Cal Poly Humboldt and leaving the state for a new job.
I told Summer that her new groomer sounds really nice, too.
We will make her welcome and see how it goes.

Summer thinks that all garden projects include her hauling this black pot to and from each job.
She does a great job of getting it where it needs to be until it's time to move onto the next spot. So far today we have planted six tomato plants and started the arduous job of weeding out the strawberry patch.
By the way, Summer's pot is useful for adding small doses of compost after we weed. She is the happiest when she is helping.
Good morning, Mastodon.

Everybody was feeling well rested, so we took off early to go for a walk.
From our house the trail looked totally foggy. We decided to walk on the wild side, and take a chance the fog would burn the fog off. What we got was fifty fifty.
Although, my husband wasn't sure he could walk very far, he did great, with a few rest driftwood logs along the way.
We got buzzed by geese, ducks and crows.
Summer was very happy to share an adventure with her pal.
Good morning, Mastodon.
